Producer:

-I am currently finishing my new Lal Meri album, should be done by mid September.

-Producing some new songs to for Phillip Bailey of Earth WInd & Fire .He is doing aa new electronic project.

-K.D. Lang . Just found out the song I co-producing with K.D. Lang (Nonesuch) will surface soon.. They told me it's too good for just a B Side, news to come.....

-This summer I will finish the Inbar Bakal album I started last to producer year. She is half Yemenite and Israeli , a wonderful world music album.

Film Composing:

- I composed the music for "The power of the game" from acclaimed British director Michael Apted. ("Coal Miner’s Daughter,” "The world is not enough,” (James Bond film) “Gorillas in the mist”) Michael is also currently the president of the Director's Guild of America. The documentary follows the road to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The film goes to Iran, South Africa, Europe, US & South America exploring how soccer changes communities and cultures around the world, as well as the struggle of qualifying. I also did the opening and closing themes. The movie is coming out November 4th on Warner Home Video.


TV:

I finished filming a documentary style music show for HBO called, "The Song Story." It shows the journey of 3 unsigned artists and their story creating the music and working with a record producer, ME! I am SO excited about this show!!! I am narrating the show and composed the theme song. Hoping for a late 2008 release.

-Just found out the TV show I filmed called Desert Island Music was picked up by a European distributor in Germany, Austria, Switzerland. The show is where artists interview other artists who are friends of their's. I had the pleasure to interview my dear friend, electronic artist and film composer BT. We filmed at my studio and interviewed each other about music. We had blast!


Video Games:

-I just finished composing music for a new video game for Sony's called The Agency with acclaimed composer Gerard Marino. We're partnering up and plan to do more games The Agency is slated for a 2009 release.

- Azam Ali song "Endless Reverie" I produced and co-wrote with Azam is on the new Buddha Bar CD with a remix by Jason Bentley called the "Bentley & Smitty Mix."

-I did a lecture a tour for M Audio/Digidesign, Avid & Microsoft. I had lectures at Boston University and Berklee School Of Music, New York (Millennium Hotel), San Francisco University & Los Angeles film school . Recently I spoke at Florida's Full Sail University.

-I performed twice at Hollywood Bowl, last summer I did a show with Paul Oakenfold & Underworld was a blast! I was very honored to be a part of a very special night. Seeing Underworld was nearly life changing, very inspiring!! 17,500 people!!

-Barnes & Noble's "Sunday Music" is now out with my song "Easy way out" featuring Jem. I did anew mix of the song. Other artists on the CD are Norah Jones, Jeff Buckley, Imogen Heap, Peter Gabriel,& Chris Martin.

-My feature interview with Electronic Musician magazine ( on the cover) & Digidesign (Pro Tools) , the worlds #1 music software, is out on line and the Digizine Magazine and newsstands. Available now.

-Buddha Bar 9 compilation CD is now out with my song 'As the day breaks" featuring Grant Lee Phillips.

-I did the music for the Current TV (Google/Al Gore) "Save the earth" campaign (July 7th) that AL Gore hosted. Composed all 15 pieces of music for the contest to be judged by George Clooney, Cameron Diaz, Al Gore, to mention a few.

- The Greenpeace song is now out on iTunes and other digital stores. It is the Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) written song written for Greenpeace. It's a sort of 'We are the world" style song featuring Sarah Mclaughlin, Annie Lennox, Imogen Heap, and Natalie Imbruglia to mention a few. My remix version is "Electro world beat," and features artists from all over the world, from Toumany Kouyate (Senegal) of The Cirque Du Soil, Kate Havnevik (Norway), Joanna Stevens(UK), Dimitris Mahlis (Greece), Satnam Ramgotra (India/Canada) & Jamie Muhoberac (USA).

Niyaz Highlights: (First album)

-Niyaz is my project with Azam Ali & Loga Ramin. "The Niyaz vibe is an alluring combination of medieval Persian & Indian exoticism & beats that are state of the art" - Billboard Magazine.
-Our Six Degree's release debuted #1 on iTunes World music chart in May of 2005
-We are featured on NPR's Day to Day & PRI and Voice of America.
-We have toured India, Japan, France, Turkey, Canada, Spain and US.

-The Niyaz remix ep (six degrees records) debuted at #18 on the iTunes electronic music chart. The album contains remixes from Junkie XL, Andy Gray, Midieval Punditz and myself. -Armin Van Buuren - Asot On The Beach 2006 "A state of Trance" JXL "Dilruba" mix has made it on his new compilation.


GRAMMY Accomplishments:

Being on the Los Angeles chapter board of Governors for the Grammy's 4 years now and serving 2 years on the National Board of Trustees, I choose not to run again. Still on the advisory board for the Producer & Engineers wing, I am very proud for all I accomplished for NARAS. I am perhaps most proud of spearheading a new Grammy album category for 'best electronic album" with the help of BT, Leslie Lewis, Jason Bentley & Ken Jordan. I am happy to say it passed and went into effect in 2004!

High above Hollywood & Vine street in Hollywood, California and overlooking the famous “Hollywood Sign” rests “Suite 775” the music studio of Carmen Rizzo. The vibe loft type space furnished with Indian & Indonesian furniture has served a home to many albums and musicians since 1999 ranging from Alanis Morrisette, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Paul Oakenfold, Grant Lee Phillips, Billy Corgan, Nelly Furtado, Esthero and Pete Townsend of The Who. Equipped with the best in modern technologies ranging from Pro Tools TDM/ HD and computers everywhere (Apple & Dell) loaded with the latest software, to vintage keyboards, drum machines and a vintage Wurlitzer electric piano. This is a perfect environment to create music.
